Continuing the conversation from our NCTE session

Our session was great. We had an inspiring conversation with the teachers who attended. They explored the tensions that surround our work with literature using the kind of honesty that we were definitely hoping for.

We started out with introductions and then we told some stories. Stories of how we both came to teaching and how our own experiences with literature have colored our approach to teaching it. We both also talked about what we struggle with and worry about now. (Doc Z’s story)

I took notes during the conversation that followed our brief presentation, and as promised, I’ve posted them in a google doc so that we can continue the conversation. Click here to see what we talked about AND add your own thoughts.

Thank you very sincerely to the teachers who attended our session. We were honored that you chose to enter into dialogue with us, and we learned a lot from you.
